VCOSS Quick Guide: Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

QUICK GUIDE TO CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY - THE COMMUNITY SECTOR PERSPECTIVE

Jeffrey Largier and Jeffrey Leong, Oxfam Skill Share volunteers began working with VCOSS in July 2008 on a project to understand and document the Community Sector perspective on Corporate Social Responsibility.
The project has produced two documents

- Corporate Social Responsibility, A Not-For-Profit Perspective: Literature Review
- Corporate Social Responsibility, A Not-For-Profit Perspective: Interviews with the sector

Implementing Recommendation 1
Recommendation 1. Overcome the expectations gap
Many organisations would greatly benefit by continuing to build the capacity to market themselves, communicate and reframe their mission and methods to corporates more effectively. This would give them greater ability to attract and enhance their relationships with corporate partners.
VCOSS is ran a training session for community organisations “Reframing your mission…marketing your organisation to corporate organisations” at Congress 09 (Aug 6 & 7) email kate.johnson@vcoss.org.au for further details.

GET INVOLVED:
The CSR e-group: The CSR e-group is a group of people registered to receive information on CSR. All emails will come from VCOSS Clearinghouse. If you have something to share with the network please email kate.johnson@vcoss.org.au.
The CSR Network: The CSR network will be the working group. We are currently calling expressions of interest from the community sectors CSR experts wishing to join the network. If you are currently engaging in CSR and have the time to help progress the outcomes from the February forum or know someone who fits this description please email kate.johnson@vcoss.org.au.
