National Disability Services National Workforce Project
The NDS Workforce Project has been established to increase awareness of the workforce capacity challenges being faced by the non-government disability sector, build relationships with VET providers and other stakeholders, and trial a range of strategies to attract and retain skilled workers. Case Study: Peninsula Volunteer Coordination Network
Three community organisations providing support to people with mental illness in the Mornington Peninsula area have collaborated to recruit and train volunteers. The network has benefited from administrative cost savings, increased number and quality of volunteers, better quality policies and processes, and a raised community profile. Health and Community Services Careers
Kangan Batman TAFE with funding from the Department of Human Services has produced a careers information and resource tool for secondary students, teachers, parents and other interested parties. Aiming to introduce students to occupations in health and community services, the resource features over 100 job descriptions, career pathways and training courses and includes audio visual footage of young people talking about why they like their job. http://www.hcscareers.vic.edu.au/
Community Services and Health Industry Skills Council (National)
The Community Services and Health Industry Skills Council (CSHISC) is the architect of national training packages for workers in the community services and health sector. They have a number of projects that aim to enhance recruitment in the sector. The CSHISC is also the National Industry Career Specialist for community services and health. Community Active Careers
On-line career resource for the community services and health industries, the Community Active Careers website has input from the Australian Government, the CS&H Industry Skills Council and all CS&H state advisory bodies, and employing organisations within the community services and health industries.
