Legal: Leasing for Community Groups

A new VicSport guide developed to help community organisations better understand lease and hire agreements is now available for download.

The publication has been written particularly with sports groups and clubs in mind, but is widely applicable to any community organisations wishing to clarify their responsibilities as leasing organisations.

The guide looks at the definitions and details of lease, licence and hire agreements, as well as a variety of terms used in these agreements, including the types of indemnity clauses that might be included.

The guide also looks at a community organisations rights and responsibilities as a lessee. The forth section looks at responsibilities with regard to liquor licensing, food safety, WorkCover and occupational health and safety.

The guide also includes a large section on insurance, including case studies.
