This forum hosted by VCOSS and the Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare invited community sector organisations to discuss the implications of the federal income management scheme for vulnerable Victorians and how the community sector may respond.

The income management scheme works by quarantining a proportion of certain income support and family assistance payments to priority needs such as food, housing and utilities.

Sue Ash, CEO of the Western Australian Council of Social Service (WACOSS), provided an overview of the income management trials in Western Australia and the impact of the scheme on vulnerable families and community services.
