BelindaI met Dave doing a youth leadership program when he was a youth worker back at the City of Casey.
He was really good support at the time when my family fell apart. I was out of home for a while, and Dave was the only consistent support I had. He was always there for me.
I looked up to him; he inspired me, and still does.
This started me off, working with young women at first. I worked with young mums and babies in a residential setting I loved.
I think everyone who works in this industry is really privileged. When clients share their life with you, if someone allows you to sit with them in their time of need, you can’t get more than that.
We sometimes may say ‘why do we come to work?’ but this is why we do.
You may not ever really know the difference that you make, but you have to believe that you do.
