I have MS – multiple S.   It has affected my vision.  The social worker from the MS Society helped me tap into services I could access locally, like assistance to go shopping every couple of weeks. 

They also linked me up with a peer support worker, Brigette.  I get some funding for support and recreational activities.  I decide how I want to spend the money, and how to best use the support.

I’ve really enjoyed working with Brigette.  She’s pretty good.  She’s been pretty flexible.  We just work out between us when it suits to make an appointment or go out.  

I love the musicals. We went to see Shout and Guys and Dolls is coming up.  I’ve been a bit stressed lately, so I am saving for a short holiday to the Dandenong Ranges. 

If I didn’t have this assistance I’d probably be staying at home.  I know my brothers and sisters would help out, but they’ve got their own families. 

When I was young I used to study I never used to do the fun things.  Now I get to do all the fun things.
