I studied marketing at university, with no real intention to work in the community sector, although I had done volunteer work with The Cancer Council and spent 3 months in Nepal on a volunteer placement.

Work in the corporate sector was not satisfying.  When someone close to me passed away it made me think. What am I doing?  I hated my job and everything it stood for, so I quit.

I got a temp job with a community organisation and I haven’t looked back.  Now I am responsible for all the fundraising and events for the Victorian AIDS Council.

This involves managing World AIDS Day, program planning, web donations, and bequest programs.

While some people only see negative aspects of any HIV AIDS situation, what I really love about my work is that it’s a very accepting place to be, and everyone is very open and totally understanding.

You know, I’ve always got interesting things to talk about and feel I have really found the job satisfaction I was wanting.
