As a parent myself, I am passionate about children and families, and years ago I did some research on parenting.

It was something of a fluke that I started working with GordonCare For Children because, before starting, like a lot of people, I didn’t really understand the work.  I just knew it reflected all the things I valued, and provided the opportunity to be creative and make a difference to the lives of vulnerable families.

For separated parents who might not be able to be in the same room with other parents or family members, I help the children go  from one parent to the other so the children are not caught up in a fight.

I also help parents reduce the conflict between them, and lessen the likelihood of their children becoming distressed or unwell.

Emphasis is put on the benefit of children’s access to other family members, and particularly to each parent.

It is emotionally charged work, but we do get some good outcomes.  By helping families be kinder to each other it enhances life for both the parents and children.

I absolutely love my job.
