My background in the tourism industry was a help when I moved to manage Travellers Aid

We specialise in travel-related emergencies, and can coordinate with organisations to provide travel fares and transport arrangements for people who might find themselves stranded here, maybe need to travel for a job interview, or someone discharged from hospital and needs assistance to a rural destination.   There are also people released from prison, or being reunited with family – all sorts of circumstances where travel is the underlying need.

Our workers also provide personal care to people with disabilities who drop-in for support.  They might need assistance to go to the bathroom or have a meal or find out about accessible venues or things to do and see.

We have fully equipped waiting rooms at Southern Cross Station and a meet and greet service on request.

It is fabulous, working here in these ways, making a real difference in people’s lives.

It’s the most rewarding work I’ve ever done.
