Publications
VCOSS publications inform public debate about VCOSS policy issues, document VCOSS research and seek to influence government on policy. Many VCOSS publications are developed in partnership with other organisations. VCOSS publishes Insight, a quarterly magazine on social justice and the community sector and Noticeboard, a monthly e-bulletin. It also develops submissions to government inquiries and legislative reform processes and produces research and policy reports. Each year, VCOSS produces a submission to government outlining priorities for the state budget. For 15 years until 2009, it published the respected Just Policy, a quarterly journal on policy issues which continues to be an important reference for students, practitioners and policymakers.

Manuals for community organisations
As part of our work to support and resource organisations in the community sector VCOSS has updated and published new editions of its popular manuals for community organisations. As one VCOSS member put it, ‘The good, commonsense stuff in the VCOSS manuals doesn’t need updating, just the legal changes.’ The manuals are designed for small, not-for-profit organisations in particular, providing information that is useful and easy to understand.
