Services

wheelchair pool accessThousands of people with severe and profound disabilities are cared for by unpaid carers, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Their contribution is largely unseen, undervalued and also unsustainable, with about one in six people currently on waiting lists for supported accommodation being cared for by family members aged 75 and over.

VCOSS lobbies for the State Government to increase investment in support services, supported accommodation and aids and equipment for people with disabilities, as well as adequate respite for carers. We raise these issues in our annual State Budget Submission as well as through combined advocacy initiatives with other organisations, such as the recently established Aids and Equipment Action Alliance (AEAA).
