station

The Coalition for People’s Transport is a Melbourne-based group of social justice and environmental organisations, transport advocates, academics, local government representatives and transport providers who work together to campaign on transport issues. The Coalition is convened by VCOSS and Environment Victoria.

The recent campaigns run by the Coalition are:

  • No new freeways - alternatives to the East West tunnel and submissions to the Eddington Inquiry. Go to www.ptua.org.au/allies/eastwest/ for resources to help you make a submission and details about upcoming events linked to this campaign.
  • Planning for peak oil – calling on the Victorian government, business and community sectors to plan now for high and unstable petrol prices. A conference was held in June 2007- “Peak Oil, Petrol Prices and Climate Change: Preparing Victoria for the Future” . Find out more.
  • Federal funding for public transport infrastructure.

The Coalition meets on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 12:30pm at VCOSS.

Publications produced by the Coalition for People's Transport include The Place to be on PT and Transport and Liveability: The Path to a Sustainable Victoria. Anyone with an interest in transport issues is welcome to contribute to the Coalition. For more information you can contact the VCOSS Transport and Disadvantage Policy Officer:
