Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport Review
In 2007, the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission (HREOC) are reviewing the Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport. This review has its own website – www.ddatransportreview.com.au
The Review is an important opportunity to support the idea of standards and argue for them to be stronger – and implemented more quickly. VCOSS will be making a submission via the Accessible Transport Watch Project.
We are also holding a separate consultation forum that is a partnership between Australian Federation of Disability Organisations (ADFO), the Accessible Transport Watch Project and Transport Action Victoria.

This is to provide an opportunity for the views of people with different types of disabilities to adequately represented in the review process. The forum is for people who have an intellectual disability, an acquired brain injury and people who use communication aids to hear how people in these groups find using public transport and whether the system has become easier to use in the last five years.
When: Tuesday 14 August, 2:00 – 3:30pm
Where: Hayden Raysmith Room and Meeting Room 2, Level 4, Ross House, 247 Flinders Lane, Melbourne.
Please RSVP to Brenda Lacy on 9662 3324.
