  • Consultation: Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System

The Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System has put out a call for submissions.

VCOSS is convening a consultation to inform our submission. We invite you or a representative of your organisation to attend and help inform our feedback and set our priorities.

VCOSS advocates that to build a mentally healthy community we need to address the reasons people become unwell, intervene early when they are at risk and invest in strategies that promote good mental health. We can’t address mental illness in the community without considering housing, income support, education and employment policy.

The scope of the Royal Commission is very wide and, in this instance, VCOSS will be unable to respond to every element of the terms of reference. In this submission VCOSS is proposing to focus on up to six priority areas where we have special expertise, possibly including:

    • Poverty and mental health
    • Prevention
    • Early intervention
    • Approaches and models of care
    • System interfaces and capacity
    • Integration and coordination

If you are unable to attend but wish to provide input, please contact Brooke McKail or Veronica Perera on 03 9235 1000.

Please note, this consultation is for VCOSS members only.
