‘Inequality crushing’ budget sets Victoria on a fairer course
The Victorian Government has pulled out all stops to crush inequality and promote community wellbeing across the state, according to Victoria’s peak social advocacy body VCOSS.
“This budget is literally brimming with positive, smart and effective social policy measures that will make real inroads into poverty and disadvantage,” VCOSS CEO Emma King said. “The pandemic has made bold interventions a necessity, and the government isn’t missing its shot.” Ms King said VCOSS was particularly pleased with:
“Any of these measures by themselves would have made for a good budget,” Ms King said. “Together, they make a great one.” “Perhaps most importantly, this budget sets us on a new course. One where people come first, and community and individual wellbeing is the main game in town.” ###ENDS### |
